Awesome thanks for all the input on the Cowboy cut thing, thought maybe Josh was messing with me. What I gather from what LAK says is for the Bruins it’s actually a dyed white stripe on the black number with with stitching needlessly sewn over the stripe. So it’s in fact one layer of sublimated twill made to look like 3 layers. Honestly if EPS does it with the twill overlay on the black as a kiss/cowboy cut I’m fine with that. I’d way rather send it to EPS and it to be close to perfect with perfect craftsmanship otherwise than deal with CC. You know you Always get a matching nameplate always with EPS too. That is the way the Bruins do their jerseys now, however, when they first started with these jerseys in the 1995-96 season, they would have been, the "Cowboy Cut" way. Now the tricky thing is to figure out when they changed to the sublaminate way they do it now. Anyone own a 2005-06 game used Bruins alternate jersey?

Nice well off to EPS it will go for a little cowboy cut action! Thanks for being bored at work and looking into it... if they’re doing the cowboy cut on the regular unis that year no reason to believe the alternate would be any different.

Anyone ever have EPS do a 2005-2007 Bruins kit (it's for a Kessel rookie jersey before I get killed by my fellow Leafs fans).
Additionally, anyone have a close up of the numbers from a gamer from that era?

I have a white jersey from a couple seasons before. I can post some pics for you later on when I get back from work. The lettering is the same for the 2006/07 Reeboks.

Meanwhile, I can give you this from a Kessel 06/07 gamer:

Damn that's a sloppy stitch job haha.
But if you could post a close up the numbers, that would be very helpful.

These pics are from a 2002/03 gamer, but the customization would be the same for a 2006/07. The back numbers are single layer black twill. There is a strip of gold screening ink (or something similar) which is applied to the black twill, and then a row of tight stitching with gold thread is applied on top of the inked strip to simulate a kiss-cut twill layer, but it’s all one piece: The letters are similar to the back numbers, all one piece black twill: The sleeve numbers are essentially 2-layer stacked. The bottom layer is gold twill, with a layer of white twill stacked on top of it. On the white twill, black ink is screened around the perimeter of the white layer, and black thread is stitched through it to simulate the “third layer.” Seems like a lot of trouble to save minimal weight compared to all-twill kiss-cut, but that’s the way it is. Also looks pretty sloppy too, as you said.

This is super helpful - thanks a ton.
Who did that custom job? Please say it was EPS or someone who is accessible (since I've heard horror stories about the Bruins' on ice guys).

Sorry, it’s a gamer, so it was Custom Crafted.
Years ago, I had EPS do a Blues jersey whose on-ice customization was also done by Custom Crafted in the same way as the Bruins. I had EPS simulate it but by using a kiss-cut twill strip instead of the printed one, and then running the stitching over it like CC did. It turned out pretty well. I posted some pictures of it in the IJ Forums; I’ll look for the pictures.

I shot EPS an email to see if they could do the on ice style, but I can live with that alternative you had them do. No worries on finding photos, I have a good idea what you mean.
Thanks again for all this info.

I found a picture pretty quick, so I’ll post it anyway. It’s got a kiss-cut gold twill strip instead of the gold ink. It’s a lot neater than what CC would do:

Can't even tell the difference between the two.
