Pre-Reebok stuff in general seems to be drying up. But those North Stars always sell pretty well.

Does anyone else think that prices for older retail authentics have gone up quite a bit on eBay over the past couple of years? I used to routinely see 90’s Starters, CCM’s, etc. for under $100, sometimes significantly less, but now it seems that a ton of sellers are asking $200 or even $300 for stuff that isn’t really all that rare. Or is it my imagination?

As I mentioned above, the supply has seemed to shorten, which of course, drives the price up. So yes, I have definitely noticed.

Well, what I was getting at is that I haven’t necessarily noticed a greater shortage of those jerseys, that is, I still see the same jerseys available often, they’re just selling for double or triple what they used to.

The above are not wrong. I will forever be pissed off and bitter at how a few years ago my black Mighty Ducks alternate Niedermayer in a size 52 sold at auction for about $120 CAD (CAD FFS !!).

This is why putting things up for auction can freak a person out. That black Ducks is 250-300 USD as a blank currently, I'd be pissed too about selling at 120 CAD.

I've noticed asking prices going up, for sure. But, is that what they are selling for?
I've been noticing another growing trend lately. I put an item I am interested in on my watchlist. About a day later I will receive an offer from the seller because I was "interested" in the item. I get these offers even without putting the item in my watchlist. Sometimes just viewing them will trigger the seller to reach out. Anyway, I've been using that as a good starting point for negotiation since sometimes you can counter-offer that initial offer. Been getting a lot of stuff cheaper than asking price that way without having to put much effort into it.

I’m testing it with a Koho jersey right now. I priced it like everyone else has been doing and I’ll see if anyone is interested.

I've also noticed some being put with a crazy high (IMO) BIN price, but I also get offers on plenty as soon as I add them to my watch list. Supply obviously has something to do with it, but I also think the prices of Adidas 'authentic' jerseys (retail, not discounted) has raised the price for actual authentic jerseys. At least in some instances

Or is it my imagination? 100%. I was easily buying 90’s Leafs ultrafils for $100 and under and now it seems they easily go for $200+. I go over eBay’s sold items on a regular basis just to get an idea of what stuff is worth and I’ve noticed a lot of older stuff has definitely appreciated in value. Super rare 80’s and 90’s stuff can go for upwards of $600+ (cdn) when before the max was in the $300-$400 range.

For years I was stockpiling (ok... hoarding) old CCM's that popped up cheap. I figured when they dry up I would put names and numbers on them, which is what I've been doing It seemed like it took over 20+ years for stuff to start drying up and it came in really handy while I was furloughed. I sold off a small handful of stuff I never thought I'd move for over $300 One that comes to mind was a Size 44 Ultrafil N-Stars black with repro 75th patch and anniversary patch. I got almost $400 for it! I was also able to double my $ on a Bruins 1996 CCM (granted I only paid like $75 for it but hey... free $) I'm thinking it was just a small spurt due to people being home with nothing else to do but search eBay for stuff to blow their stimulus check on. I for one am hoping this is the beginning of a windfall trend for this chubby lil' kid
