Another size comparison to take note of is CCM's increase in the body as the years went by. Generally, the pit to pit measurement of a size 54 (proper pit measurement does NOT include any part of the gussets) would be approx 27" across, early 80's the body would also be 27". Mid 80's that increased to 27.5" and by the late 80's it increased to 28" or even 28.5". With goalie cuts reaching 29". Here is a side by side comparison of CCM Ultrafils, an '84 Buffalo, next to an '88 Kings, both are 54 player cuts, both are 27" pit to pit, but the Sabres is 27.5" across the body and the Kings is 28.5". Obviously there are gonna be slight variations, the amount of times a jersey has been washed and if the jersey has been heat dried in a dryer (which is a no no, NHL teams air dry their uniforms) can greatly affect these measurements:
