I know I might be the only one here that does these...so I might end up talking to myself...but here's some of my more recent soccer/football/calcio acquisitions. 1996-97 Newcastle Alan Shearer: 2020 Lazio 120th anniversary Ciro Immobile: And the new pride of my collection, a match-worn 2002 Metrostars Tim Howard:

Ciro Immobile should be a goalie. Or a goalpost.

Ooh that Newcastle is sweet. Reminds me of Juve. 😅

Fun fact: Juventus' stripes were actually inspired by Notts County, not Newcastle. They even wore pink and black prior to 1905.

Man I remember Tim Howard when he was on the MetroStars. Him and Clint Mathis were the reasons why I watched nearly every game in 2000 and 2001 seasons.

There was a time when Clint Mathis was the greatest American player on the field and it wasn't even close.
That's the now-infamous Jack Edwards "That's why he's here!" call but unfortunately this is the English version so it's about as exciting as navy hockey jerseys. I actually have a Josh Wolff match-worn jersey in that style but it wasn't worn in the World Cup but in the few friendly games leading up to the tournament.
I remember that 2002 World Cup very fondly. The games were on super early but I would get up at about 4am, watch whatever was on and then get ready for work at 8am. The Portugal game, Mexico game and even the Germany game were really fun to watch. It sucks that it's mostly remembered now as the disgraceful refereeing performances towards the Korean team against Italy and Spain in the knockout rounds.

And that was after Clint had recovered after his ACL tear where he was never quite the same again. He never was quite as consistently explosive as he was before the injury, but he could still do them once in a while and that was one of them. But man the 2000 and 2001 season Mathis was unbelievable.
The thing I remember most about the 2002 WC was me watching some matches before heading really early to school at the end of my senior year. I think the "early" games started at around 2AM with another one typically starting at 4-4:30AM. It was brutal to watch.

Yeah, I turned nocturnal during that 2002 World Cup. I was laid up with a back injury and on medical leave from work, so I pretty much watched every game. It was actually really cool, and my back eventually healed up.

I just picked up four USM/WNT blanks for a little over $100 total. Not too bad of a deal. Does Nike do the lettering in-house?
